No Brainer By: Skyla Robbins

Questions What do you notice first in the ad? What do you think is the reasoning behind the sign?

Background Information This is an ad for abovetheinfluence.com which was created for The National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. Above The Influence was designed to help teenagers be aware of the influences on them and stand up to the pressures they face.

Audience The audience of this ad is all teenagers specifically those that are depressed, pressured or interested in drugs.

Focus What do you think is the main focus of the ad? The focus of the ad is the lost brain sign because it is large and clear whereas the objects around it are small or blurry.

Background/ Foreground The foreground of the ad is all the signs on the tree. The background of the ad is some people walking on a sidewalk.

Techniques Parody: This ad is a parody because it is taking the idea of a lost dog sign and mimicking it to make a point. Detail: Contrast is used in this ad between the bold black words on the sign with the white background of the sign.

Composition Color: The colors used in the sign are all black and white except the pinkish brown brain. Why do you think the only color on the signs is the color in the brain?

Composition continued Proportion: On the lost brain sign the word LOST is larger than any of the other words. The sign itself is also the largest poster in the ad.

Appeal Logos: This appeals to your logic because it is impossible to actually lose your mind.
