1 Welcome to Ms. Courville’s 1 st grade! It’s going to be a great year!

2 All About Me! This is my 5 th year of teaching! 1 year of Title 1 Kindergarten, and 4 years of 1 st grade I grew up on a farm in Montana and have lived in several states since then Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, and now back in Colorado I have three kids: Justin (23) is a computer scientist living in Portland, Oregon, Jessica (21) is a Special Ed para at Air Academy High School and special education major in college, and Jeremy (12) 7 th grader, and attends Fountain Middle School I love the outdoors, sports, and reading!

3 Goals Each child will: Progress at least one level in all academic achievement areas Learn to work independently and enjoy cooperative opportunities Develop a feeling of success while having fun with academic challenges

4 Expectations All students: Have the potential to learn and excel Behave appropriately in a school environment Strive to develop an “I can do it” attitude Develop a LOVE of learning! Parents are a fundamental part of a student’s education!

5 Classroom Rules We treat others the way we want to be treated We respect other’s space We strive for independence, are respectful, responsible, and will try our best.

6 Positive Behavior Support (PBIS) PBIS adopted August 2008 Objective: Students are given immediate reward when demonstrating positive behavior REACH (respect, effort, attitude, citizenship, honesty) Star Cards: 25 punches = reward Entire AEES staff involved

12 Other Information Do not send flowers or balloons to be delivered to the school because they will not be given to the student until after school. Birthdays are special celebrations in every child’s life and the class will honor your child on his or her special day. If you choose, you may send small, non-food treats or party favors (stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.) to celebrate your child’s birthday. Put names on lunch bags/boxes and clothing! No toys at recess time. Birthday invitation policy
