English 2H Semester Project

The objective of this project is for you (and your group members) to demonstrate your understanding of the novels read thus far in English 2H. Your knowledge will be demonstrated by your analysis of themes, characters, symbols through your chosen project option. OBJECTIVE

Reading Standard 3.3 Analyze interactions between characters (e.g. internal/external conflicts, motivation) and explain the way those interactions affect the plot. Reading Standard 3.7 Recognize and understand the significance of various literary devices, including characterization, plot, irony, tone, style, mood, atmosphere, and symbolism, and explain their appeal. Reading Standard 3.9 Explain how voice, persona, and the choice of narrator affect characterization, plot, tone, and credibility of a text.

Projects will be graded on: -Group preparedness/ skill / organization -Is it clear that your group put time into your project? -Interpretation of the novel -Is your project creative/thought-provoking? Do you demonstrate your understanding of not just the novel, but the themes as well? -Creativity/Effort -Is your project unique? Well-made? Did you go above and beyond or just do the bare minimum?

To ensure that your project is on the right track, you must complete a project proposal that outlines the following: *Abstract- Describe your project *Project Steps- Plan out your project and the steps needed *Product- What will be physically turned in? *Project-English Literature Connection- How does your product tie to the novel? *Academic Honesty *Completion/Group Presentation Date Project Proposal

Project Options #1 Trailer, #3 Talk Show, #8 Be the Teacher, #9 Day in court: Requires a script, video/act out in class #2 Comic book, #4 Scrapbook, #5 Epilogue, #6 Music, #7 Write your own: Requires a written explanation of your project choice
