A UGUST 29-30, 2013 I can evaluate the importance of each vignette in order to demonstrate my comprehension (understanding). I can apply strategies before, during, and after reading to increase fluency and comprehension. I can demonstrate comprehension of increasingly challenging text. I can relate a literary work to important ideas of the time and place in which it is set or written. I can I can recognize and analyze the use of various literary devices and be able to incorporate them in my own writing.

G RAMMAR R EVIEW A verb expresses an action or a state of being. A verb phrase consists of at least one main verb and one or more helping verbs (also called auxiliary verbs). Examples: John must be feeding the cats now. ( Must and be are helping verbs. Feeding is the main verb.) Do you have a favorite artist? ( Do is the helping verb. Have is the main verb.) Jose Rodriquez was born in 1899. During Jose’s childhood, his aunt would sell fruit in a market in Mexico City.

BE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL WRITINGS CONSCERNED WITH THIS NOVEL. AT THE END OF THIS NOVEL WE WILL BE PREPARING OUR OWN COLLAGE OF VIGNETTES.
