21 Volusia Results 2012-2013 Eight District-wide Early Release Professional Development sessions focused on Common Core and Danielson’s Framework (select high effect strategies) and Deliberate Practice Plans. MyPGS, PD360, VIMS technology aligned. All district provided PD aligned to priorities.

22 Volusia Results 2012-2013 Deliberate Practice Plans of teachers focused on high effect strategies and included professional learning activities and reflection on teacher professional practice and impact on student achievement. Deliberate Practice Plans of administrators focused on Domain 2, Instructional Leadership.

23 Volusia Results 2012-2013 All district staff responsible for providing professional learning participated in “PD on PD”. This PLA brought the PD Protocol in operational terms, including specific expectations for the four stages of the PD cycle – planning, learning, implementing and evaluating.

24 Volusia Results 2012-2013 Common Core in Action Institute, June 10 -13, in which over 1400 teachers attended representing all content areas, grade levels and special programs. The implementation and evaluation requirement of participants required collaborating with colleagues in first quarter 2014.

25 Thinking back on your 2012-2013 school year, how did your pieces fit? What worked? What didn’t?

26 Volusia Plans 2013-2014 All school leadership teams participated in the following professional learning provided by the Department of Education- AMOs, SIP, EWS, Lesson Structure, Instructional Elements, and Data Rooms. On-going support to be provided by DOE and district.

27 Volusia Plans 2013-2014 Eight District-wide Early Release Professional Development afternoons focused on Common Core and the high effect strategies of Lesson Structure and Instructional Elements (connection to Danielson 22). All district provided PD connects focus areas, including technology.

28 Volusia Plans 2013-2014 New Professional Development System was adopted which addresses Florida Protocol requirements. All Volusia professional learning follows the Protocol. Extensive professional learning is ongoing to ensure facilitators understand and are implementing expectations with fidelity (“PD on PD”).

29 Volusia Plans 2013-2014 Ongoing professional learning is being provided to school leadership on FSLA Domain 2, Instructional Leadership. A new series has been established to assist administrators with minimal experience with the indicators in Domain 2.
