Objects are always nouns or pronouns. The object is the person or thing affected by the ACTION described in the verb. Action Verbs

Subject Verb Direct Object 1. Find the subject of the sentence. Do this by asking yourself "who" or "what" the sentence is about. Freddy bought Melinda a ring. Who bought the ring? Freddy. Freddy is the subject. 2. Only action verbs have an object. Our verb is action (bought) 3. What did Freddy buy? A ring. You've found the direct object. Questions to help you find the direct object:
