Two applications required for Army Psychology internship programs U.S. Army Internship program Army application Apply through your local Army Health Care Recruiter No service obligation with just the application! Must meet the requirements for selection as an Army officer Internship application Students must attend APA-accredited graduate program in clinical or counseling psychology Applicants also need to complete and submit the AAPI online. No obligation attached to submitting an application.

Practicum Hours: Minimum of 500 intervention and assessment hours (1) Graduate transcripts, (2) Three letters of recommendation, (3) Curriculum Vitae, and (4) Written sample of a psychological assessment sample Rotations: 3x Required: Outpatient Behavioral Health (6 months), Neuropsychology (2 months), and Primary Care (2 months) 1x Elective (2 months): Pediatric Psychology, Neuropsychology, Health Psychology, Intensive Outpatient Program, or Primary Care Current Director of Training (DoT): MAJ Amanda Robbins Website/Brochure

11 TAMC Basic Requirements : Practicum Hours: Minimum of 500 intervention hours and 150 assessment hours (1) Graduate transcripts, (2) Three letters of recommendation, (3) Curriculum Vitae, (4) Written sample of a psychological assessment sample, (5) Treatment Summary reflecting actual clinical work. Highly recommended that you contact the DoT to ensure your application materials have been received. Rotations: Adult Assessment and Intervention (year-long) Behavioral Health Walk-In Clinic (6-9 month) Optional Rotations (5 months):Neuropsychology Services, Behavioral Medicine Services, and Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (Pick 2) Current DoT: MAJ Jim Butcher Website/Brochure Yearlong Adult Assessment and Intervention rotation through the Adult Behavioral Health Outpatient Services Friday is devoted to group supervision, didactics, patient care, and program development experiences.

Clinical Work Well-rounded clinical experience Hours Amount Quality Experience in utilizing evidence-based therapy PE, CPT, EMDR, CBT-I, etc. Assessment and Report Writing Focus on integrated reports Experience with MMPI and PAI at a minimum Varied assessment experience (different populations)

20 Status Quality Dissertation Is dissertation done?
If not, is it on a good track to being complete? Quality Not as important as status Stay away from things that may delay process

The Army has recruiters who specialize in recruiting healthcare providers (YOU) Recruiters typically come from medical related specialties in the Army (Medics, Technicians, Admin, etc.) They have experience with working with graduate students Area of Interest Medical (AMEDD)

Don’t have to commit now but can get more information about your options It’s a long process… Medical waivers Security clearances Start your packet in June of your application year Finish packet by December Board convenes in January/February Some people will need longer others it will be quick

Updated CV/ Resume Contact information for your Letter of Reference Writers (3+) Personal Documents (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Wedding Certificate, etc.) DD-214 (for prior service applicants, if applicable)

27 Medical Standards Most important thing is to be honest about your medical history Not every medical condition disqualifies you Some conditions can be waivered Plan ahead…get the Medical Evaluation done sooner than later Buys time to complete any waivers prior to the deadline One of the biggest holdups to applications
