2 Convention Bureau Roles Lead generation and tracking; - to identify business tourism opportunities; Bidding and bid support – with associations, meeting planners and venues; Delegate boosting – marketing support for specific meetings; Business tourism destination marketing – stimulating awareness of a tourism destination from a business perspective – the attractions and business tourism services of a region; Product development and accreditation; Impact assessments; and Co-ordination.

11 Accommodation  Durban and KZN has a wide range of accommodation from standard 3, 4 and 5 star hotels to up-market boutique hotels, lodges, guesthouses, self-catering apartments, university rooms, youth hostels and B&B’s  There are more than 15,000 tourism related accommodation rooms within 15km of the Albert Luthuli ICC Complex

12 Transport | Getting to Durban  International flights: Direct flights now available to Durban’s new King Shaka International Airport. Alternatively, delegates can fly to Johannesburg & get a short one-hour domestic flight to Durban.  Durban is connected to the rest of the country through an excellent bus network, serviced by buses of international standard.  The Shosholoza Meyl train connects Durban with other cities in South Africa. The service offers two accommodation types – tourist class, with sleeper accommodation, and economy class, with catering in the dining car.
