Korea Strategically Located in Northeast Asia Despite of foreign energy dependency (96.4%) and no oil reserves, Korea has become one of the best models of ‘ how a successful energy system leads to an advanced economy’. Korea also has ambitious renewable energy programs. Korea is situated in the center of fast-growing Northeast Asia. East Coast Energy Cluster (2) Preparation for worldwide energy competition and future national energy supply through the East Coast Energy Cluster Project of Gyeongsangbuk-do. the foundation for Korea’s growth engine and the infrastructure to foster new and renewable energy industry. ※ Currently East Coast Region represents more than 50% of the national nuclear power production Gyeongsangbuk-do, the neighboring province of Daegu represents 40.9% of the national total energy production.
