5 AUGUST 1815 BORN IN ENGLAND 20 MARCH 1833 ARRIVED IN SYDNEY BY BOAT 1834 -1830 BOUGHT GRAZING LAND AND SHEEP AND CATTLE IN NEW SOUTH WALES AND THEN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. OVERLANDED ANIMALS TO BOTH FARMS AND SOLD THE ANIMALS FOR A GOOD PROFIT. 1840 TOOK OFF ON MAJOR EXPEDITION FROM ADELAIDE TO WESTERN AUSTRALIA TO FIND NEW GRAZING LAND IN THE MIDDLE OF AUSTRALIA. EYRE WAS THE LEADER OF THE EXPEDITION. JULY 1841 ARRIVED IN ALBANY, WESTERN AUSTRALIA EXPEDITION WAS A SUCCESS HE TRAVELLED 1400 KILOMETRES 1846 AWARDED A GOLD MEDAL BY THE ROYAL GEGRAPHICAL SOCIETY FOR HIS COURAGE AS AN EXPLORER. 1850 MARRIED ADELAIDE FANNY AND HAD FOUR SONS AND A DAUGHTER 30 NOVEMBER 1901 DIED IN ENGLAND AT THE AGE OF 86

Edward John Eyre’s received a prize for being the first person to cross inland Australia from Adelaide to Western Australia. His award was a gold medal for the organisation of the trip to Western Australia.
