Leonardo wrote a letter to the ruler of Milan, Duke Ludovico Sforza, in which he recommended himself as a military inventor and engineer. He claimed that he could make bridges 'indestructible by fire and battle', and 'chariots, safe and unassailable'. The face from the top of the forehead to the chin is a tenth of a person’s height as is the palm of the hand from the wrist to the top of the middle finger
