2 How to write a lab report 6. purpose of the lab must be clearly stated 7. methods-should include tables 8. no bullet lists of materials 9. analysis-conclusions and graphs can be placed here 10. do not write on both sides of lab

3 How to write a lab report Ask a scientific question-what would you like to investigate? this might include description of a problem or situation Hypothesis-what is your hypothesis? Variables- what is the dependent variable-what are you going to measure?

4 Dependent variable can include-response, behavior change, height, weight, color change, growth rate and so on Independent variable-this is what you are tweaking-fertilizer, light, soil, drugs to cause the response What is the control?-condition that remains the same

5 Materials and methods-what do you need to perform the experiment? How will you perform replications? What is your procedure? Recording procedures and results- include data tables and observations This might include a graph as well.

6 Present the results, do not explain the results. How best to present the results? Conclusions-do the results support or refute the hypothesis Summary questions? If you could redo the experiment,,, how might you do it differently?
