Topics for AS Leisure and Tourism: Travel and tourism, sport, hobbies, entertainment, customs, traditions, healthy living, health and nutrition, diet and exercise, unhealthy living, drugs, aids, smoking, alcohol. The Individual and Society: Relationships, responsibilities, gender issues, youth culture, (values, peer groups, fashions an trends) education, vocational training and future careers

4. Topics for A2 Environmental Issues: pollution, global warming, transport, energy, nuclear energy, renewable energies, conservation, recycling, sustainability. Social and Political Issues: including the role of media, racism, immigration, social exclusion and integration, terrorism, world of work, (employment, commerce and globalisation) You may even get to play ‘boules’ during a French lesson!

5. AS French at KES WJEC Two Modules are examined at the end of the Lower Sixth Year. Module 1 (FN1) Your teacher will act as examiner and will record the examination for external marking Oral (15 minutes) You will have a conversation based on two AS topic areas that you have studied in class, prompted by cards given to you in your 15 minutes preparation time. This will be followed by a general conversation where you will be encouraged to discuss your personal interests, studies and aspirations for the future.

6. Module 2 (FN2) Listening, Reading and Writing (2 ½ hours) You will have control of the audio file on your own mp3 player for the listening comprehension section. This will be followed by texts from magazines, newspapers and books on the topic areas covered in class. You will be required to translate a number of sentences from French into English and complete a ‘gap-fill’ passage that will be testing your knowledge of French grammar. You will also have to write an essay of 200-250 words in French on topics that you have studied. French exchange in an A2 class

7. A2 French at KES Two Modules are examined at the end of the Upper Sixth Year. Module 3 (FN3) There will be an external examiner for all candidates at A2 Structured oral discussion and exposé (20 minutes) You will be given 15 minutes to prepare to answer questions on a passage of French. You will be expected to give your own views on the subject matter and you will be expected to debate and justify your opinions, (6 minutes). You then go on to give an exposé on a book, film or region of France that you have studied (4 minutes) and be ready to discuss the topic for a further 10 minutes with the examiner.

8. Module 4 (FN4) Listening, Reading and Writing (3 hours) You will have control of the audio file on your own mp3 player for the listening comprehension section. You will also have to write an essay of 400 words in French on a book, film or region of France that you have studied in class.
