What is Windows Movie Maker? Windows Movie Maker is an easy to use video editing software that allows you to make home movies, automated photo albums, and presentations. Windows Movie Maker has a Ribbon across the top that is similar to the Ribbon on the Microsoft Office Programs.

Terms Storyboard- is a panel of pictures or other movie clips, laid out in the sequence that will be shown in the movie. Video Capture- is the process of transferring the video you recorded from a video camera or other video recording device (such as a cell phone), to your computer. Video Clip- is a small section of a larger video presentation.

Terms Cont. Video Frame- is a single picture or still shot, that is shown as part of a larger video or movie. Video Transitions- the visual movements as one picture or video clip changes to another Video Effects- The motion applies to the individual picture itself rather than to the change from one picture to another.

Video File Formats.AVI - Audio Video Interleaved.WMV – Windows Media Video.MP4- MPEG 4.MOV – Quicktime Format.FLV – Flash Video File

Importing Videos or Images On the Home tab of the Ribbon, there is an “Add videos and photos button. You will click on this button and find the video files, or picture files that you want to be added to your StoryBoard.

StoryBoard The videos that you have imported will appear on the StoryBoard once you have imported them.

Adding Titles, Captions, and Credits You can add Titles, Captions, and Credits by going to the Home tab of the ribbon, and clicking on the one that you want.

Visual Effects There is a Visual Effects Tab on the ribbon that allows you to change the way the video looks. There are lot of options under the visual effects tab.

Adding Music Or Narration/Rotating Videos or Images On the Home tab of the ribbon you can add background music, or narrate your video. You can rotate you videos or images by clicking the rotate buttons on the home tab of the ribbon.

The Edit Tab of the Ribbon The Edit Tab allows you to… Change the volume of the video clip Apply fade in, and fade out effects to your sound Change the speed of your video Split, and Trim your clips And set the starting and ending points.
