UCAS & SIA 3D Printing 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.[wiki] Conventionally, a desired product is decomposed to be several components (or parts), then fabricate each one individually, and finally integrate them. So “additive process” is as old as fabrication. Analogically, 3D printing can be regarded as assembling micro parts while conventional methods assemble macro ones.

Bad parameters, such as high laser power for SLS, will cause cracking, deformation and unsatisfied mechanical properties.
