THE HISTORY OF AIRA All Kids Count Project from 1992-1999 Robert Wood Johnson grant funded the start-up of several state IIS Provided conferences & technical assistance Need for continuation of this type of mutual support recognized by IIS staff Membership-based non-profit organization began in 1999

VISION & MISSION Vision: A healthy, fully immunized community supported by the electronic sharing of information. Mission: to promote the electronic use, tracking and sharing of complete immunization records for people of all ages.

PURPOSE To support and promote the development, implementation and interoperability of IIS through partnerships, peer and professional education/training, and resource development.

COMMITTEE WORK Purpose : promote standards and best practices through informational and educational activities, using both face-to- face meeting opportunities as well as through use of electronic communications methods. Produces: SnapShots Webinars Regional Forums Workshops Website content

STANDARDS & INTEROPERABILITY STEERING COMMITTEE

COMMITTEE WORK Provide technical support and guidance to interoperability efforts of AIRA members and the IIS community Provide technical support and provide guidance to the board and Executive Director as they prepare to represent the IIS community in wider health information community regarding interoperability issues Act as a liaison between national organizations involved with interoperability like ONC and others. Be a technical resource for AIRA members and the IIS community

TECHNICAL WORK Interoperability between IIS and other health information systems: Assist in the implementation of HL7 messaging by IIS and their partners Represent IIS community in Standards Development and implementation efforts Support vocabulary standardization efforts

IIS ASSESSMENT STEERING COMMITTEE

COMMITTEE WORK Purpose : To develop IIS assessment tools and processes for the purpose of improving data quality, functional capacity, and data usage Build on AIRA’s prior work Develop IIS assessment tools Implementation of an IIS assessment test pilot and analyze results in order to produce a final assessment tool Finalize tools and develop business plan for ongoing implementation

COMMITTEE WORK Purpose: Identifies IIS operational issues that would benefit from consensus-based best practice guidelines Subject Matter Experts work in a facilitated session to develop recommendations around a specific issue Four chapters currently available The fifth chapter is in development
