In 2005, it won “the best Shopping Center in the world” ICSC (International Council of Shopping Center) award. And in the same year, it also won “the best Europe shopping center” award. El Muelle has got 5 floors, it contains 40 fashion and sport shops There are almost 20 restaurants with different types of food as Turkish, Chinese or Italian as well as pubs, cafés or fast food ones like McDonalds. It also has a cinema with 11 show-rooms, a disco, a paddle club and a playground. It`s a great place for shopping and to spend time! l

8. The new stadium, called Estadio de Gran Canaria, is located in Siete Palmas, a new suburb in the city. It was inaugurated on 8 th May 2003 with a match: Union Deportiva Las Palmas against RSC Anderlecht. It is the largest pitch in the islands, for 35,000 spectators. El Estadio Insular was the first stadium in Las Palmas and was the pitch where U.D. Las Palmas played its matches in the Spanish first and second leagues. It was opened on 25th December 1944. In 1951 it reached 22,000 seats.
