2 Why Move to a New Curriculum? Meets College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) “Triple-C CB” accreditation standards Centered in Family Medicine Comprehensive Care Continuity of Care Competency Based Accommodates expansion in Resident numbers (52 –to– 70 –to– 79) Develops/enhances/formalizes learning in specific clinical areas, e.g.: Underserved populations Selected outpatient experiences: mental health, dermatology, cardiology, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, chronic pain, asthma Provides continuity in areas additional to Family Medicine clinic (Long Term Care, Mental Health, Prenatal)

Provides selectives/electives/”enriched” competencies Designed to accommodate Foundations Program Designed to accommodate increase in Academics Programming Maintains learning in key offservice areas: Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Palliative, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist, Emergency, Pediatric Emergency Maintains Rural FM experience Theoretically robust Increases FM teachers and FM Core Teaching Sites Able to share with colleagues nationally – Program model, assessment methods, etc.
