15. The Pueblos would use a ladder to get inside their home. In time of danger they would pull up their ladder so no enemy could get inside. Inside a Pueblo home. They would use animals skins and handmade rugs to sleep on. Each room of the pueblo usually went to one Pueblo family.

25. The Three Sisters The most important foods for the southwest people were corn, beans, pumpkins, and squash. Pueblo Indians were farmers. Most of their food came from crops. Squash Corn Beans 213

26. Farming The men cleared the fields and prepared the soil. The women did most of the farming. They used sharp sticks to poke holes in the dirt and put seeds in each hole. 27. Corn was the most important crop for the Pueblo people. They ground it into corn meal and baked it in ovens like this one in a pueblo. 28. Cooking A horno is a kind of oven used by Pueblo Indians to cook bread and tortillas in. They used the roof of their pueblo like a porch.

29. They also grew gourds that could be dried out and used as containers. The Pueblos also grew cotton that they used to make cloth.

30. The wildlife was very important to the Pueblos. Men hunted any animal they could find living in the desert. The women and children would collect wild foods like berries when they were in season. 213 Wildlife

44. Pueblo Indians didn't use horses or canoes for transportation. To get from place to place, the Pueblo Indians traveled on foot. So their transportation was walking.. How did the Pueblos get around? Rivers, Creek, Streams Flat Land
