Games we have played in class this week: Find the word / grapheme Display words / digraphs around the room: Sing to tune of skip to my Lou: ai, ai where are you ai ai where are you ai ai there you are sitting over here (then chn make sound “ai” and point to the digraph) Repeat for other sounds or words

Relay game Split into two groups Display words on whiteboard / wall etc Call a word, two people at front of line race to collect the words OR Do the same but for spelling e.g. say a word and each team member tries to write words on their easel / IWB correctly. Team that wins is the team with the most words written correctly

Can you read this? Game suggestion: Cross the Golden River Children sit on one side of a ‘river’ and sing: Golden river, golden river Who will cross my golden river? Golden River Golden River who will cross it now? Then teacher / student who is a crocodile says: ‘you can cross my golden river if you find me….’ was, no, to, he, she, ai, ng etc. Children find the word and then ‘feed’ the crocodile their word before crossing the river
