www.mha.org Follow the MHA on social media 2003 HOSPITAL PROVIDER TAX PROGRAM BEGINS Since 2003, hospitals have paid $7 billion in provider taxes – nearly $2.1 billion of which was retained by the state to benefit the healthcare needs of Michigan residents.

www.mha.org Follow the MHA on social media 2016 In fiscal year 2016, Michigan hospitals paid $309 million of its provider tax program directly to the state to help fund Michigan’s Medicaid program and other state healthcare needs.

www.mha.org Follow the MHA on social media 2017 The FY 2017 executive budget recommendation continues GME funding at the FY 2016 level. This investment helps grow the number of physicians practicing in Michigan.

www.mha.org Follow the MHA on social media 2017 Nearly half of Michigan’s hospitals are considered small and rural. The FY 2017 executive budget recommendation preserves funding for two significant funding pools essential to the delivery of high-quality care and services to people throughout the state. Small and Rural Hospital Access Pool $34 million in total funding in FY 2017 helps more than 60 Michigan hospitals stay open and serve their communities. OB Stabilization Fund $12 million in total funding in FY 2017 helps preserve labor and delivery services in hospitals throughout rural Michigan.
