 Methods of training are the different ways in which we can train.  By using different methods we can train different body parts, muscles and energy systems.  Using different methods also help to “keep up” our motivation to train.

 Continuous training  Interval training  Circuit training  Resistance (weight) training  Crossfit (strength and conditioning)  We will take part in each one of these!

 Work continuously (without a break) at an activity for at least 20mins  The intensity that we train at is med - low (around 50% – 80% MHR)  This develops our general aerobic endurance which forms the foundation of all fitness.

 Give 3 examples of a continuous training session?  How could you make sure you were working at 50% – 60% of your MHR?  How could you use continuous training to improve performance.

 Training by alternating work and rest periods  Depending on how we use interval training we can target any of the energy systems.  We do this by changing the following:  The duration we work and rest  The intensity we work at  The number of repetitions

 Has a series of stations, with different activities at each station.  Circuit training involves work and rest periods.  Circuit training can be adapted to work on any component of fitness, it just depends on the activity.  Helpful for keeping everyone busy in large teams, also uses a large amount of variety.

 List 3 exercises that you could use to develop your core.  List 3 exercises you could use to develop your legs  How would circuit training help our motivation to train?

(weight training)

 This training develops of muscular strength, power and endurance  We train by using weight, (working against a force or resistance)  Free weights, machines or body weight can be used.  We can focus on training different muscle groups

Strength and conditioning training

 Cross fit training is relatively new.  It uses movements that are constantly varied and of high intensity.  Workouts are typically short.  They combine many different movements that are mixed to produce workouts.

 What are 3 advantages of using cross fit?
