VOTING IN WISCONSIN 2014 THE BASICS OSHKOSH STUDENT ASSOCIATION(OSA)

VOTER ID LAW BLOCKED On Thursday October 9 th the U.S Supreme Court blocked Wisconsin from implementing the voter ID law for this election. This means no one will not have to show identification at the polls on November 4 th. All prior absentee ballots will be counted without requirement of submitting a copy of a photo ID, including ballots which were issued prior to the Court of Appeals order on September 12, 2014.

IMPORTANT DATES TO KNOW Election Day- November 4 th from 7am-8pm Early Voting- October 20 th -October 31 st from 8-4:30pm * Students can also register to vote on Election day (November 4th) * Early voting location will be at City Hall (215 Church Street). Vote at City Clerk’s office on 1 st floor.

ELECTED OFFICES November 4 th is Election Day in Wisconsin for federal, statewide and county offices UWO Students have the ability to make a major impact in Washington, Madison and Winnebago County: (22 days away). U.S Representative for the 6 th Congressional District; Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin; Attorney General of Wisconsin; Secretary of State Treasurer; Wisconsin 54 th Assembly District Race; Winnebago County Sheriff, Coroner and Clerk of the Circuit Court

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT TO ME?? These elections will have a major impact on the following issues and many more: UW tuition; Students health choices and rights; Civil rights and liberties; Federal and state financial support for public and technical schools. Lives of your family and others; Taxes; State legislation can be enacted within 30,45,60 to 180 days. Ex., Act 10 Budget Repair Bill (2011).

REGISTERING TO VOTE FOR FIRST TIME OR UPDATING REGISTRATION All voters registering or changing address must provide proof of residence which contains voters name and current Wisconsin address some examples include: Wisconsin ID (Drivers license or State ID card) Bank statement; Residential Lease (current residence); Utility bill for a period beginning no earlier than 90 days before Election Day. UW Oshkosh Proof of enrollment verification form-The document can be printed from Titan Web and click on “Voter ID Enrollment Verification” on the bottom of the homepage. All students are encouraged to know the last four digits of Social Security Number for registration purposes.
