Desert Biome The desert biome is very hot and dry, and some are cold. In the desert, few animals and plants live there. These few animal species have special ways to adapt to the dry weather. Plants, such as cactuses, live in the desert because it has long, thin roots to suck up the water. Unlike the hot deserts, some deserts are very cold, but it is still dry.

Tundra Biome The tundra biome is very cold. It has cool summers, but most of the time it is winter. Tundras don’t have trees because the wind will blow the trees down, so the only plants in the tundra include flowers, moss, and shrubs, which are all short plants. All tundras have something called permafrost.

Taiga Biome The taiga biome is also very cold, like the tundra. The taiga has trees that stay green all year, called evergreens. Because the climate is very cold, the organisms there have layers of fat and blubber to stay warm. The plants in the Taiga have very less populations. These plants include twigs and leaves.

Forest Biome The forest biome is a flat land with miles and miles of trees. In the rainforest, there is three levels. They are the canopy, understory, and forest floor. Because there is a plethora of rain, it is called a rainforest. Some animals include the gray wolf, grizzly/brown bear, and the jaguar.
