2 WHAT IS A CURRICULUM? It can be a comprehensive plan for an educational or training programme / course to offer improved / new manpower to fulfil the rising needs of a dynamic society (SS Pillai)

3 OR A structured document that delineates the philosophy, goals, objectives, learning experiences, instructional resources and assessments that comprise a specific educational programme (curguide_generic.pdf)

4 It represents an articulation of what the would be student should know and be able to do and supports teachers in knowing how to achieve the goals

7 TO SET THE ROLLING What are the needs to be fulfilled at the present time? What is the philosophy? What are the objectives, goals of the training programme? What are the resources we will need? manpower, financial, books and other aids, research outcomes,

8 WE ALSO NEED TO CONSIDER Content:  What is the scope?  how many courses?  Policy reforms, agreements, compliance procedures, negotiations, standards, globalization, common currency issues, traceability, fair trade ethics, proliferation, SPS, needs of ECOWAS, EU markets, legislations, requirements for agricultural commodities

9 WHO TO TRAIN? Public officials in agricultural and trade / investment agencies Practitioners in Agriculture and related areas  Entrepreneurs in farming  Traders, importers University Dons  Postgraduate students

10 Learning outcomes Entirely new programs or part of existing programmes? Qualifications – diplomas, certificates? Duration of programmes once and for all, modules? Centre / unit / department – administrative, funding requirements Trainers, train the trainers…
