History The Kingdom of Dacia was present in the region from 82 BC to 106 AD. The Roman Empire captured Transylvania in 106 AD In 271 AD the Romans left and tribes like the: Visigoths- they established a kingdom north of Danube and Transylvania between 270-380AD Huns: they took power in 380AD and they ruled Transylvania until 420AD

Gepids- they had a part in the Kingdom of Gepids but it came to an end in the late 6 th century. Avars- the Gepids rule was crushed by the Avars in they year 567. Ruled for 250 years Bulgars- took over the Avars rule at the beginning of the 9 th century Maygars- at the end of the 9 th century, Maygars captured Transylvania and went on to hold power until 1003

1526- Transylvania became a duchy, which is a territory under a duke or a duchess, under the Kingdom of Hungary Battle of Mohacs- Transylvania gained its independence from Hungary in this battle but it was ruled by Hungarian princes 1566- Transylvania became a self-government under the Turks 1683- Transylvania was captured by Habsburg and became an official part of the Habsburg Empire after the Battle of Vienna December 1918- Transylvania joins Romania August 1940- Hungary got around 40% of Transylvania back that they had lost 1945- after the end of World War 2, the land that was returned to Hungary had to be returned back to Romania

Common Occupations Agriculture-a typical household keeps poultry, a couple of pigs, 10- 20 sheep along with 2-3 cows that are milked by hand every morning Wine production- produce high- quality white-wines
