ORGANIZATION CHART

What is Tensile Testing?? Tensile testing is one of the most common tests that are used to identify the mechanical properties of the material. The tests are simple, relatively inexpensive, and fully standardized. The test performs in tension load and a destructive test process used to provide information about the strength and ductility of a material.

Type of Tensile Testing Peel Tear Resistance Crimp Joint Pull-off Force Adhesion /bond strength

ROBOTIC TENSILE TESTING  Capacity: 100kN and 250kN.  Consists standard: Universal Test frame Advanced Video Extensometer Hydraulic wedge action grips Hydraulic power supply.  Storage hold: Up to 275 specimens but depending on sample size and geometry. Tensile Testing Machine

HORIZONTAL TENSILE TEST MACHINE  Capacity: 5kN, 25kN, 150 kN and 300kN  Advantages: Permitting a range of accessories to be mounted Modify the grips to accommodate different shaped samples Provide alternate grips TENSILE TESTING AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURES  Ability for testing in temperature between -80 °C and 300 °C.  Advantages : Movable roller carriage system to easily moving in the test room Provide inductive displacement sensors and video extensometer to measure temperature range The testing software Lab Master provide modules metal, plastic tensile test, bending test, compression test and the video recording module.

Material and equiment Tensile specimens Universal testing machine. microscope Micrometer or Vanier calipers Process in Tensile Testing

1.Measure and record specimen dimensions. 2.Fit the specimen on to the universal Testing Machine (UTM) and carry on testing. 3. Calculate and record Young's modulus, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, fracture strain, % elongation and % area of reduction of each specimen. 4.Analyze the fracture surfaces of broken specimens using stereoscope, sketch and describe the results. 5.Discuss the experimental results and give conclusions. PROCEDURE

Benefits and Limitation of Tensile Test To determine batch quality To determine consistency in manufacture To aid in the design process To reduce material costs and achieve lean manufacturing goals To ensure compliance with international and industry standard Benefits The limitation of extensometer to measure. The extensometer at the tensile test machine can only measure a small amount of elongation which normally only occurs within the region of a stress strain graph. (The elastic region) Limitation

The objective of this task is to enable students to enhance their knowledge in the procedure and basic knowledge of tensile testing as well as other technical aspects of the particular test The application of tensile testing can be in various types of industries such as Aerospace Industry, Automotive Industry, Beverage Industry, Construction Industry, Electrical and Electronics Industry, and also in Medical Device Industry Conclusion
