The early-registration deadline for Westwoods will be Monday December 8, 2014. Please turn all paperwork into the Office at school. I will be taking all paperwork over to Crystal Mountain December 10 th. Passes will be delivered to school before Christmas break so please turn everything in as soon as you can. Westwoods Ski Day is on Sunday, our first ski day is Sunday January 11 th, 2015. Purchase your Sunday up-grade if you would like to start skiing at 1pm vs. 3:30pm on Sundays. Lessons will be offered on Sunday at the specified times, see times within this spreadsheet.

Because our skiers are elementary school age (under 12 years of age) a parent/guardian needs to remain on Crystal Mountain premises at all times. Please be available for your skier after your lesson is complete. All skiers have to take at least one beginning lesson in order to get a Level Specific Sticker for their pass. See spreadsheet below. If you would like to register online the Westwoods Online registration code is: log on – ww password – WW1 If you register online, please let me know you have done so, otherwise I do not know that you have already paid. I will still need your rental forms if you choose to do the rental offer.

You can find all the forms online at: http://www.crystalmountain.com/snowsports/school-program You can also register online from the above link. Again, please email me if you registered online. Thank you!

Ski and snowboard lessons are offered until mid-February, and sessions are reduced with diminishing demand; 6:30 lessons are not available in February. Proficiency Stickers: Each season all students are required to attend a skill review on their first trip to Crystal Mountain. Our Snowsports pros will evaluate each student’s skills and issue them a “proficiency sticker” for their pass or lift ticket. This sticker indicates which lifts and slopes each student will be permitted to use. Students who wish to improve their skills or gain access to more difficult terrain will need to attend additional lessons and clinics. Make sure your young skiers & boarders always have the right fit in equipment! Equipment that fits and performs properly is very important, particularly for skiers and snowboarders that are learning their sport. Crystal Mountain has created the Crystal Kids Gear Up Program, a ski/snowboard equipment trade-in/trade-up program that helps parents ensure that their child has proper-fitting equipment each season without spending an arm and a leg. To enroll in the program, bring your child to the Mountain Sports Shop, located slopeside within The Lodge at Crystal Mountain, and have them professionally fitted for equipment. Purchase a snowboard or skis and bindings, or skis, boots & bindings for your child at retail price. Then, bring the equipment back at the beginning of the following season, along with the sales receipt, for a credit voucher good toward your child’s new gear. If the equipment is returned in good shape after one winter season, you’ll receive a voucher equal to 80% off the original price. After two seasons, you’ll receive a credit voucher equal to 50% off the original price. For more information about the Crystal Kids Gear Up program, please contact Mountain Sports at 888.968.7686 ext. 4400. Crystal Kids Gear Up Program:

What to Wear: Dress in layers. Layering allows you to accommodate your body's constantly changing temperature. Only one pair of wool or synthetic ski socks. Avoid ribbed or cotton socks Wear Snowpants; Jeans get cold and wet. Wear Thermal Underwear. Turtlenecks and/or Neck Gators make a huge difference in your warmth. Mittens are great for cold nights. Wear a helmet while on the slopes, (or at minimum a hat): 60 percent of heat-loss is through the head. Wear moisturizing sun protection when coming during the day. The sun reflects off the snow and is stronger than you think, even on cloudy days! Always wear eye protection. Have sunglasses and goggles with you.
16
