1 Marine Corps Family Team Building Okinawa, Japan Your One Stop for Family Readiness

2 Mission Statement The mission of Marine Corps Family Team Building is to assist Commanders in preparing and equipping the families of their Marines and Sailors with the skills and tools to successfully meet the challenges of the military lifestyle. Marine Corps Family Team Building provides family readiness programs to ensure commanders and program volunteers receive necessary resources and support through prevention and education.

Lifestyle, Insights, Networking, Knowledge, Skills Orientation for Marines, Spouses and Children to the Marine Corps lifestyle Mentorship by experienced and knowledgeable Spouses and Marine Corps Family Team Building personnel Fun friendly environment helps Marines, spouses and children to gain knowledge, network and make new friends!

4 The Unit Family Readiness Program shall provide support through proactive outreach and intervention in the form of the following functions: Official Communication; Information and Referral; and Marine and Family Readiness and Deployment Support. The Unit Family Readiness Program is the Commander’s Program and is facilitated by the Family Readiness Office. Volunteer opportunities are available for spouses and family members of Marines in each unit. Family Readiness Program

5 Spouses Learning Series SLS provides Marine Corps spouses the opportunity to further their personal and professional growth Topics include: Relationship Building, Personal and Professional Empowerment, Leadership, Goal Setting, Stress Reduction, Life/work Balance Provided in three parts:  Motivational Workshops  On-line Educational Skills Building  Leadership Skills Workshop

6 Japanese Spouses Orientation Provides Japanese spouses / fiancées information and knowledge about military life style and American culture  Birth and immigrant visa registration  Successful PCS  Cooking class …etc Seminars are offered monthly with guest speakers from over 20 organizations “translator is provided” Great way of networking and sharing information with other Japanese spouses and fiancées

7 Deployment Support Programs Return & Reunion  Subject matter experts give information on reuniting, rediscovering, and readjusting following deployment Kids & Deployment /Kids Return & Reunion  Available upon request In the Midst Workshops  Held quarterly  Fun and informative resource and support information

8 Premarital Seminar Premarital Workshop Required for marriage on Okinawa Held monthly at the Globe & Anchor Registration required Guest speakers from US Consulate, Legal, IPAC, PSC, etc. to answer questions related to getting married Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP) Teaches couples (married/engaged) effective communication, problem-solving and conflict management skills Enhances commitment and friendship in a marital relationship Operated by Marine Corps Base Chaplains

9 More MCFTB Programs ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes Plan to start these classes in the second half of this year Weekly classes focused on conversational and practical English CREDO (Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation) FREE retreats for personal growth, character development, team building, ethical leadership, marriage enrichment and spiritual growth of retreats Run by Marine Corps Base Chaplains Marriage Enrichment, Personal Growth, and Spiritual Growth Retreats Contact the CREDO office to sign up or for more details

10 Training Schedule Sessions held on Camps Courtney, Foster and Kinser. Classes offered during the day, evening and weekends. Free childcare on site by qualified childcare providers.
