10
10 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Full Carbon Frame, Fork & Crank 1965g – size 56 – painted with derailleur hanger, Fork and Hollowgram SL crank Material - The SuperSix is engineered from high modulus unidirectional Carbon Fiber. Unidirectional material provides a lower void content and allows us to optimize each tube for it’s intended purpose. The SuperSix doesn’t have a cosmetic woven top-layer - this further reduces weight Performance Criteria 1.Weight / Efficiency
11
11 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Tapered Head Tube The unique trapezoid/tapered shape of the Head tube saves weight as it replicates the shape our unique full- carbon tapered steerer fork. This uses less material without sacrificing performance The fork tapers from 1 1/8 ” to 1.5” at the crown for lateral rigidity and weight savings. What’s in it for me? Lower weight and greater lateral stiffness = easier climbing, better acceleration and handling. Performance Criteria 1.Weight / Efficiency
12
12 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Oversized Front Triangle The unique shape of the tapered head Tube allows it to accept a radically Oversized down tube. 56mm cross section The down tube of the SuperSix is Optimized for torsion while the top Tube is optimized for lateral stiffness. What’s in it for me? Better power transfer, responsiveness And handling. Whether climbing or descending this bike goes where you point it Performance Criteria 1. Weight / Efficiency
13
13 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation CLEAN MOLDING TECHNOLOGY CO-MOLDING MONOCOQUE The top-tube, head tube and down tube are co-molded to the rear triangle in one step. What’s in it for me? A beautiful frame that is light, Efficient and made in the USA 1. Weight / Efficiency
14
14 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation POWER The heart of the SuperSix is the one-piece BB Chain stay. Continuous fibers No redundant fibers Larger area for oversized chain stays to flow into BB No joint between the critical union of the BB shell and chain stays When co-molded to our front end it is like having one continuous spine from drop-outs to head tube What’s in it for me? Lighter weight, reduction in flex = Easier climbing and faster sprinting 1. Weight / Efficiency
15
15 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Oversized One-Piece BB Chainstay The bottom bracket and chainstays were molded as one piece. This eliminates the need for overlap joints that add weight The expanded size allows for thinner walls and reduced weight while increasing rigidity. What’s in it for me? Easier climbs and better power transfer Performance Criteria 1.Weight / Efficiency
16
16 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Oversized One-Piece BB Chainstay is system integrated The oversized BB30 shell comes equipped with the oversized spindle of Cannondale’s Si Crank set options. This oversized shell is molded as one piece with dramatically oversized chain stays What’s in it for me? Efficient pedaling and explosive power transfer. Performance Criteria 1. Weight / Efficiency
17
17 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Asymmetrical Chainstays Each chain stay was developed with a specific shape and lay-up for Performance based on chain and axle loads. What’s in it for me? Explosive power transfer Performance Criteria 1. Weight / Efficiency
18
18 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Thinline Hourglass Seat Stays The separate left and right seat stays of the SuperSix were engineered in our hallmark hourglass design using the least amount of material. They are attached to the seat tube without using heavy bolts, hardware or unnecessary overlap. What’s in it for me? Less material where you don’t need it for lower weight Performance Criteria 1.Weight / Efficiency
19
19 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation Full Carbon Down to the Dropouts Both front and rear dropouts are Full carbon with no steel attachment bolts or forged alloy parts. What’s in it for me? Your bike will be lighter and sexier Performance Criteria 1.Weight / Efficiency

40 ELITE RACING 2008 www.cannondale.com © 2006 Cannondale Bicycle Corporation How We Test Our engineers test all cranks for stiffness the same way Restrain the crank set with a chain over the inner chain ring and apply a load through the left hand crank at the center of the pedal. The deflection is measured at the center of the pedal. This method captures the system stiffness in four critical areas of the crank system. 1.The bending and torsional stiffness of the left crank arm 2.The interface between the crank arms and the spindle at both ends 3.The torsional and bending stiffness of the bottom bracket spindle 4.The torsional stiffness of the spider
