8  Start with your most recent work experience  Dates of Employment  Name of the Employer  Position Held  Responsibilities of the Job  Caring for family Include any special talent or skill that you developed on the job (i.e. web design, automotive repair)

9  Describe any volunteer activities or community service projects that you’ve been involved in (i.e. Soup Kitchen, Charity Fundraisers, Volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT, Craft Fairs, Recreational Sports Programs)  Responsibilities (Assistant Coach/Official, Chairperson, Team Leader)

10  Include any additional activities or hobbies that you are involved inside and outside of your school setting (Band Member, Dance Troupe Member, Equestrian, Website Design)  Anything else that makes you unique and interesting

11  This category is optional and is NOT used for employment purposes  If unique circumstances exist that you wish to share with recommendation writers and/or admissions officers, you can include these under Personal/Family History  Examples: First Generation College Student, Cross- cultural Background, Responsible for care of siblings, Lived in several states/countries

12 AAs you create your resume, you will be amazed at what you have accomplished. DDiscovering what you do for a career is a major challenge. Your first resume can open doors for your college choice, career, job, and training opportunities. TThe resume is your first and best tool for introducing yourself and presenting your skills, education and experience.

23 Give your resume a title –Based on its purpose (College, Job, Scholarship, Community Service Resume) Select a Format & Include References if desired

24 Select the primary & secondary boxes of information you want included in your resume

26 To View / Print your Resume: About Me Resume Customize Click:VIEW /PRINT Icon

27 At this point the Resume Information can be copied from Naviance and pasted into a word document. NOTE: If resume does not appear on screen: Return to resume and SELECT Primary & Secondary boxes of information you want included on resume.

28 To Edit your Resume: About Me Customize EDIT Save & Close

29 Create, Edit and Print a Resume in Family Connection To create a printable resume: 1.Go to the About Me tab. 2.Click Resume – Begin Building Resume Sections / Select each category 3.Click Customize Your Printable Resume. 4.Click Create a New Print Format: a. Enter Title of Resume b. Next to Format – Select a Style c. Next to References – Select to include or not include references 5. Select the primary boxes and the secondary boxes and / or Radio buttons of information within each sections that you would like to be included in your resume. 6. Click Save and Close. To print/view a resume: 1.Go to the About Me tab. 2.Click Resume 3.Click Customize Your Printable Resume. 4.Click the View/Print icon to view and print the resume. (If resume does not appear on screen – return and complete step #5 & #6 above). To edit a printable resume: 1.Go to the About Me tab. 2.Click Resume. 3.Click Customize Your Printable Resume. 4.Click the Edit pencil and make the desired changes to resume. 5.Click Save and Close.

30 A resume is an important document that allows people to get to know you before an interview. A resume serves as your first impression to a college or an employer. Most careers require that you have an up-to-date resume listing all of your accomplishments. Review your work – a single mistake on a resume will be caught by someone reviewing it, so seek the help of your teachers or parents for editing.
