Look up this word using the dictionary and thesaurus Based on what you found, work together to create a definition in your own words List if this is: 1.a noun (thing/ person/ idea) 2.a verb (an action/ something you do) 3.an adjective (a describing word) Draw a picture that represents your word Write one sentence that correctly includes your word No cheater sentences. You can’t say things like: X means ________. I can use X in a sentence. X is a neat word. Your sentence should show that you understand the new meaning of the word.

Directions In this activity, I will list a word and a definition at the front of the room. For each word, write down a characteristic, quality, or example that is true for your life. Write down something special about the time period/ place/ culture you live in (as opposed to other time periods/ places/ or cultures). How does your situation make you different?

Culture The behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group Examples: religion, clothing, language, education, beliefs, holidays, traditions, rituals, celebrations, food

Identity The unique characteristics or qualities that make one person different from other people. If culture is what people do and how they act as a group, identity is what one person does and why s/he acts the way s/he does
