Monday-Seniors Describe a time in your life where you struggled, failed, or made mistakes. Did this event help or hurt you in the end? Define vocabulary: whet (arouse), visage (appearance), interpose (introduce), kindle (burn), virtue (asset), whit (bit-as in small amount), constancy (steadiness), prevail (conquer), exploit (achievement), derived (imitative). Review literary devices: theme, plot, characterization, and paradox. Agenda Begin Act II and the guided questions as a group. Character review. Twitter wall review, traits of characters with a sketch, symbol or single word description.

Juniors-Monday List the character(s) that match each adjective: lust, pride, greed, ignorance, pleasure-seeking, and dishonesty. Define vocabulary; DO NOT JUST COPY THE SYNONYM!: dogmatic (strict), effrontery (arrogance), gaunt (thin), heretical (unorthodox), hypocrite (fraud). Review literary devices: plots, characterization, theme, and allegory. Agenda 3 rd -Complete Blooms Guided reading handout for Act I. View Act I. 4 th - begin reading Act II. Work on Blooms. Seniors-Tuesday Write a letter to your friend about a conflict that you have. Describe what happened and your feelings about the conflict. This can be made up or you can use fake names. It should be ¾ of a page. Create one sentence for each vocabulary word. Agenda Complete Act II, guided questions, and work on the skit for Act II. TWR, in a group begin the dialogue for Act II.

Juniors-Tuesday Has anyone ever started a rumor about you? How many different ways was the rumor told? Was there any truth to it? One sentence per vocabulary word. Review allegory, plot, characterization, and theme. Agenda T: Review and read Act II. T: Twitter Wall Review, Act II diagram. Work on Blooms Guided Reading with a partner.

Seniors-Wednesday In the midst of the conflict with your friend, you find out from another friend more to the story. Describe this third party and write out what you were told as well as your reactions to this shocking news (from this point on the journals are taking more of a creative fashion. Because some of you may not have been in a situation such as this, it is okay if your stories are fabricated.) Spelling Bee. Begin reading ACT III, work on guided questions as a group, Act II skit. W: TWR, Act out a scene from Act II.

Juniors-Wednesday Are in of the themes of The Crucible relevant in today’s society? How so? Spelling Bee. Agenda Complete Act II and begin Blooms guided reading. TW Review, theme diagram-link a theme to characters that portray that theme and explain how they do so.

Seniors-Thursday Your friend responds and says that the third party is indeed the one who is lying. What is this friend’s defense and how do you react? Quiz Game! Agenda Review, theme application with evidence, complete Act III and guided questions.

Juniors-Thursday Habeas corpus is the right to summons with the force of court order. It means that one may see a judge and report unlawful detention or imprisonment and possibly be released. How could this writ have influenced the court proceedings at the Salem witch trials? Literary/Vocabulary Review game. Agenda Complete Blooms guided reading handout and view Act II. TW Review, character chart-accused witches.

Seniors-Friday You are unaware as to who is being honest and who is dishonest. Look back to the previous journals you have written. Who do you trust? Explain your rationale. Current Events. Juniors-Friday Develop a speech either to free accused witches, condemn accused witches, or to end McCarthyism. QUIZ Agenda Finish viewing Act II and review the conflicts of the drama and include evidence of McCarthyism. TW Review, class discussion on Act II after viewing it. Quiz on vocabulary and literary terms.
