Education and Training Needed A college degree is not required to become a Navy Corpsman. Special military training is administered to become a Navy Corpsman.

Other Qualifications There really aren't any other qualifications other than the qualifications needed to get into the Navy.

Nature of Work Mining was hard work. Miners worked long hours in dark mines with very little space. This work was extremely dangerous and caused disease.

Education and Training Needed There was none. Young boys were hired and most of them followed their dads into mining work.

Job Outlook The mining industry fell quickly. Oil was quickly replacing coal to be used as fuel.

Potential Earnings Wages were low for the harshness of the physical labor and much of the wage went to the company store or there company owned house.
