11 RESPONDER SAFETY wSafety Vest Compliance –Are all agencies complying (Towing, Media, Others)? –Responders have a responsibility to each other and those operating on our incident scenes –Ensure vest are clean and the reflective material is intact wTraffic Control –Practice good apparatus placement to facilitate blocking of the scene and advance warning –Continually assess the traffic que and monitor our advance warning

Responders should coordinate efforts to achieve roadway/incident clearance First arriving unit should establish TTC Secondary collisions have a fatality rate of 18.2% For every minute responders remain on scene the chances of struck-by increase by 2.8% Quick Clearance Goals
