1 Journal 14.19.16 A Raisin in the Sun “Harlem” Interpret the meaning of the following lines: What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore—And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? tOr crust and sugar over—Like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags Like a heavy load. Or does it explode?

2 Journal 24.20.16 In A Raisin in the Sun, Mama is anticipating a life insurance check from the death of her late husband. The characters each have an idea of how the money can be used. How do Mama, Walter, Beneatha, and Ruth each believe the money should be used? What tensions could possibly develop as a result of the impending insurance check? Explain.
