Ed Paschke’s art considered the expanding effect of electronic media on contemporary life before it was a reality. The digital revolution has allowed manipulation and distortion of photo images in ways that seem common now, but it wasn’t always that way. Ed Paschke regularly used iconic characters in his art that ranged from politicians to beauty queens.

Contemporary: belonging to the present time. Manipulate: to move, arrange or operate something using the hands. Distort: to twist and/or press out of shape Iconic: an image, a symbol, a logo, picture, name, face, person, or building or other image that is readily recognized. Modern Art: artwork created during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s Pop Art: A genre of art that uses elements of popular culture
