7.  In order to enhance the level of the higher education, the Guangdong Education Department and the Finance Department decided to carry out the “Innovation for Strong College” programme since 2014.  With great efforts of the whole College, UIC successfully got involved in the “Innovation for Strong College” programme in April 2015, and was supported with a amount of six hundred thousand yuan. 8.  To push the building of predominant disciplines, key laboratories and talent team, and better serve the development of Zhuhai, the Zhuhai government decided to set up a foundation for the “Zhuhai Higher Education Building Programme” since 2015.  UIC successfully got subsidized with a amount of 3.2 million for the College development, including two distinguished scholars, two predominant disciplines, and one key lab. 13. UIC Research Grant Establishment of UICRG represents UIC’s commitment to continuously improve teaching and research capability of our staff so as to better serve our national and local needs on innovation in science, technology, arts and social development. Teachers are urged to engage students in their research activities such that they can experience first hand, the importance of research in knowledge creation, problem solving and life-long learning.

14.  Category I RMB 5,000-20,000  This category provides seed money for junior faculty to kick start their research activities. Artistic endeavors or other scholarly work that are not likely to find supporting agency will also be considered under this category. Project duration is normally one year unless there is strong justification for a longer period.  Category II RMB 20,000-50,000  This category is to provide seed funds to support staff who have established track record in their field of research. The seed funds are intended for investigators to obtain preliminary data to support their external grant applications. Project duration is two years. Categories of the Grant

15.  Category III – RMB 50,000-200,000 This category aims to support highly innovative and important projects that are likely to be supported by national funding agencies if not for the fact that some key concepts needed to be demonstrated. The seed fund is for investigators to prove these critical concepts. Maximum project duration is three years.  Category IV – Funding level to be determined This category intends to provide seed funds to support research centers, research institutes and research teams. 22. 香港浸会大学 - 联合国际学院 联合研究所 Joint Institute of Research Studies (JIRS)

23. JIRS was constituted at July, 2008 by HKBU and UIC, in order to promote the research process and the develop of postgraduate students education in UIC and elevate the affection of Academic in the world. The Post-graduate students in JIRS will be trained in course and research study under the supervisor and co-supervisor. The fellows or associate fellows of JIRS will be accredited by HKBU Academic Committee, whoever UIC or HKBU teachers. The Pg students of JIRS learn the course both in UIC and HKBU but the research work will mainly be conducted in UIC. Students in JIRS will be awarded the HKBU Diploma when they accomplish all the assignments. Introduction

25.  Currently there are totally 10 postgraduate students in JIRS (1 Mphil and 9 PhD students).  The next round of admission will be started in this Sept. JIRS Postgraduate Students

26. JIRS also provides post-doctoral posts for HKBU and UIC. The postdoc fellows will do research work under the supervisors guidance. Postdoctoral Fellowship
