Based in the Student Services Centre on Highfield Campus and have a presence on all our satellite campuses. We can advise you about everything from: helping you pay your tuition or accommodation fees, receiving guidance on your visa applications, getting financial advice or support, accessing specialist help with your studies, emotional or learning support as well as access to career advice and opportunities. 4 Student Services Centre: Career Destinations A wide range of resources, group workshops and events available to develop your work related skills giving you the best possible opportunity to get the career you want. Events include: career fairs, speed networking, employer presentations, assessment centre boot camps, Excel Southampton placement programme and business simulation exercises to help develop your commercial awareness. We also run a Community Volunteering programme, all of which can contribute points towards your Graduate Passport. 7 Enabling Services Provide a range of services for specific short or long-term needs by offering support to help you succeed in your studies. You can attend group activities (counselling, tutorials and workshops) as well as individual support sessions throughout the year for support and direction. 8 Enabling Services – Registration Events: If you have disclosed any type of Specific Learning Difficulty or disability or mental health condition you should have received information about when to register with the services. You need to do this so you can access the support, especially if you need additional exam requirements. Please go along to the Assistive Technology Service (on the ground floor of the Hartley Library, Highfield Campus) at one of the times below with your diagnostic reports or medical evidence to register and chat to a specialist practitioner about the support you are entitled to. 9 Enabling Services: 24/7 First Support If you have a change in circumstance whilst at University, you might need some additional support for a short while. Some of the things that could affect you are: –Feeling lonely & withdrawn - Victim of assault or crime- Being worried about a friend/flatmate –Worried about your exams - Becoming ill, either physically or mentally - Flatmate is unwell and relying on you for support Dedicated to being the first point of contact for both you and your friends/family during times of crisis or extreme difficulty. The team works with you to identify what support is needed and assists you for very short periods until ongoing support is in place. Your friends and University staff can refer you to the team if they are worried about you. You can also refer your friends if you are worried about them for any reason or to ask for advice about how to handle situations. Contact us 24/7, out of hours is urgent support only.
