I.Prayer Is A Must For Success. A. Neh. 1:3, 4 B. Acts 1:24-26 C. Acts 6:3, 5-6
3
The whole reason why the term “shepherd” is used to refer to a leadership position in the church – is because their work is so much like the work of an actual shepherd!
4
What A Shepherd Is/Does:
5
A. He Knows The Sheep (Jn. 10:14) B. He Watches Over Them (Acts 20:28-31)
6
C. He Goes Before The Sheep (Ps. 78:52-53) “But He led forth His own people like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock; He led them safely, so that they did not fear; But the sea engulfed their enemies.” C. He Goes Before The Sheep (Ps. 78:52-53) “But He led forth His own people like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock; He led them safely, so that they did not fear…”
7
Heb. 13:7 “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.”
8
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.” D. He Seeks The Best For The Sheep (Ps. 23:1-2)
9
E. He Searches For Lost Sheep (Lk. 15:4-5)
10
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety- nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
11
F. He Is Accountable For The Sheep (Jer. 33:12-13)
12
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. (Jn. 10:1-2)
13
I Tim. 3:1 “This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.” From “oregetai,” “to stretch one’s self out in order to touch or grasp.” It’s not just “I want,” but “I SACRIFICE!”
