5. Noor went to the hospital now. She is in the hospital to visit him. She is at the hospital now.

6. Someone goes to hospital or is in hospital if he is ill Or injured. We are not necessarily thinking of a Particular hospital; we are thinking of the idea of Hospital

7. But Noor is not ill or injured She is not “in hospital” She went there as a visitor We say “ Noor went to the hospital/ Noor is at the hospital” Because we mean a particular hospital, or the one Where jack is.

8. School/university The ᴓ Mr. Clark went to the school/the university to meet his daughter’s teacher. (He didn’t go there as a pupil.) Sarah went to school/university to study. (she is a pupil.)

9. Let’s study these words : The ᴓᴓ Ken went to the prison to visit his brother. (ken is a visitor, he went to the prison where his brother was ) Ken’s brother is in prison for robbery. ( he is a prisoner) The workmen went to the mosque to repair the roof. (they didn’t go to a religious service) Mr.Smith goes to mosque every Sunday.(for religious service)

10. *Bed – Work – Home We say: “go to bed”/”be in bed” (not ’the bed’) It’s time to go to bed now. – Is Tom still in bed? ‘Go to work/be at work/start work/finish work’ ( not ‘the work’) Why isn’t Ann at work today? – what time do you finish work?

11. ‘ Go home/be at home/come home/stay at home’ (not ‘ the home’) Lets go home. – Will you be at home tomorrow? There is no preposition with go/get/arrive home. (not ‘to home’). *Bed – Work – Home
