Vocabulary: Equation: A mathematical sentence formed by placing the symbol = between two expressions. Inequality: A mathematical sentence formed by placing one of the symbols or ≥ between two expressions.

Example 3 You have saved $78 to buy a snowboard that costs $150. How much more money do you need to save to be able to buy the snowboard? Write an equation for this situation and solve. 78 +x = 150 Amount saved $ needed Total Cost x = 150 - 78 x = $72
