CELL PARTS THAT ARE COMMON TO PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS
CELL MEMBRANE: INSIDE THE CELL WALL (PLANT) AND THE OUTSIDE LAYER OF THE ANIMAL CELL. IT PROTECTS THE CELL FROM INTRUDERS. NUCLEUS: CONTROL CENTER OF THE CELL. NUCLEAR MEMBRANE: PROTECTS THE NICLEUS FROM INTRUDERS. THINK OF IT LIKE THE SKIN ON A NUCLEUS.

CELL PARTS THAT ARE COMMON TO PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS
CHROMATIN: STRANDS OF GENETIC MATERIAL INSIDE THE NUCLEUS THAT TELL THE CELL WHAT TO DO. NUCLEOLUS: ORGANELLE INSIDE THE NUCLEUS THAT MAKES RIBOSOMES. CYTOPLASM: CLEAR, THICK, JELLY-LIKE SUBSTANCE THAT HOLDS THE ORGANELLES IN PLACE.

CELL PARTS THAT ARE COMMON TO PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS
MITOCHONDRIA: THE ORGANELLE THAT PROVIDES MOST OF THE ENERGY FOR THE CELL. ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM: THE PASSAGEWAY THAT CARRIES PROTEINS AND OTHER MATERIALS FROM ONE PART OF THE CELL TO THE OTHER. RIBOSOMES: PRODUCE PROTEINS.

CELL PARTS THAT ARE COMMON TO PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS
GOLGI BODIES: THE CELLS MAILROOM. THEY RECEIVE PROTEINS AND OTHER NEW MATERIAL FROM THE ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM AND SEND THEM TO OTHER PARTS OF THE CELL. LYSOSOMES: CONTAIN POWERFUL CHEMICALS THAT BREAK DOWN FOODS. VACUOLES: STORE FOOD, WATER AND OTHER MATERIALS. SOME ANIMAL CELLS DO NOT HAVE VACUOLES.
8
CELL PARTS THAT ARE FOUND ONLY IN PLANT CELLS
CELL WALL: HARD OUTER LAYER OF THE CELL THAT PROTECTS IT’S SHAPE. IT IS MADE OF CELLULOSE – NON-LIVING MATERIAL. CHLOROPLAST: THESE ORGANELLES CAPTURE SUNLIGHT AND TURN IT INTO FOOD.
9
BACTERIA CELLS SMALLER THAN PLANT AND ANIMAL CELLS.
CONTAINS ONLY A CELL WALL, CELL MEMBRANE, RIBOSOMES AND GENETIC MATERIAL. DOES NOT HAVE A NUCLEUS.
