Collaborative Knowledge Network in Human Resource Development on Design for Manufacturing and Innovation Pr. Serge TICHKIEWITCH President of EMIRAcle Grenoble Institute of Technology Global Perspective of the Joint Collaboration Initiatives between STI and EMIRAcle
2
I)Interest of networking - PRIMECA - VRL-KCiP - EMIRAcle 2)Joint collaboration initiatives Advices for DMI network iDesigner, ResEUr, LSSA Visionair PHC
3
PRIMECA network In 1987, National Science Fundation (USA) wrote a report on "Computational Mechanics" The French Academy for Sciences has reacted and asked the Department of Higher Education to permit the High School to teach and use industrial CAD systems and Finite Element Software
4
PRIMECA network The cost was so high (120 M bahts for 10 licenses) that the government asked me to create the "resource cluster for computational mechanics" PRIMECA This PRIMECA network started in 1991 and every year get a global grant of 320 M baths for investment
5
PRIMECA network Missions: - Pool of resources for mechanical engineering and manufacturing - To supply technical supports for education - To coordinate software and hardware investments - To organize scientific animations - To transfer technology toward industry - To transfer knowledge from laboratories to training - To develop training for the Open Institute and numerical
6
PRIMECA network Number of teaching hours from 2005 to 2011
7
PRIMECA network
8
It is also: - The French colloquium every two years - The IDMME conference in alternate - International relations with a center in Beijing - International master for research InnovaProd in China and Mexico - The International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing

August 1999, CIRP G.A. Montreux: A discussion about a Virtual Research Lab August 2002, CIRP G.A. San Sebastian: A Virtual Research Lab in Information Management in Manufacturing August 2004, CIRP G.A. Krakow: A Virtual Research Lab for a Knowledge Community in Production VRL-KCiP
10
Production: the global life cycle of a product, from specifications to disassembly and recycling Knowledge community: People who want to share their knowledge about processes used during the life of the product, and this during the product development process. Research: in order to work on new methodologies, new tools and new organisations with an industrial finality. Virtual Research Lab: a network of labs with a goal to transform the network in a real European structure of research. VRL-KCiP 20 European research teams want to create a synergy in order to change the way they are doing research !
11
Objectives The virtual laboratory will be a legal association allowing the partners to construct an European laboratory with delocalised teams, sharing research projects, strategies, knowledge and resources, responsibilities, rights and duties, and able to contract with industry. VRL-KCiP
12
Goals A rupture in the fragmentation of the European research, A lateral thinking and a holistic approach to address common problems in different fields A multidisciplinary approach in order to overcome the variety of technical challenges. A high level of European education in sciences. A creation of synergies with industry and end-users in order to supply the market with highly innovative and competent products. VRL-KCiP
