SCHOLARSHIPS

Each of the four military services: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps offer national scholarships to high school seniors to attend major colleges and universities. Upon earning a four-year undergraduate degree and ROTC pre-commissioning requirements, cadets are commissioned as lieutenants or ensigns.

4-Year scholarships provide the following benefits: Full tuition Associated expenses Monthly stipend Book allowance Selected programs offer Room & Board

Students who receive a ROTC scholarship must agree to complete a period of service with the Army. Serve full-time in the Army four years (4-year for scholarship winners) Selected Cadets may choose to serve in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard

Army ROTC scholarship provides monthly living allowances for each school year. 1st year $300 per month 2nd year $350 per month 3rd year $450 per month 4th year $500 per month

To qualify, you must: Be a U.S. citizen Be between the ages of 17 and 26 Have a high school CGPA of at least 2.50 Have a high school diploma or equivalent Score minimum of 920 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores) Meet physical standards Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army, U.S. Army Reserve, or Army National Guard)

If you are applying for a scholarship you will need to first create a MY GOARMY account. Once you create an account, you will be sent to the Log In page where you can complete and submit your application. Applications should be submitted at the end of your junior year or during the first semester of your senior year.

For the second year in a row, VT Army ROTC Cadets achieved the best overall tactical and leadership performance of all six Senior Military Colleges in the nation. They attained overall top performance in Physical Fitness, Rifle Marksmanship, Land Navigation, RECONDO Award, and the number of cadets who exceeded assessment standards.

Virginia Tech's newly commissioned Second Lieutenants Nick Roland, Dan DiGiorgio, Nate Carter, Mike Luth, and Charles Gallagher recently graduated the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning and will attend the prestigious Ranger School on November 5, 2007.

Virginia Tech awards 66 Emerging Leader scholarships annually to incoming Army ROTC cadets. Thirty-three scholarships (each worth $12,000 over four years) are available for cadets paying out-of-state tuition rates. The remaining 33 scholarships (each worth $6,000 over four years) are awarded to cadets paying in-state tuition rates. Virginia Tech awards 66 Emerging Leader scholarships annually to incoming Army ROTC cadets.
