Section 1 – p.257 Work and Energy ▫On page 258, define work, energy, kinetic energy, and the work-energy theorem. Work is based on net force and displacement (not distance) ▫Write the three equations on pages 258-259. ▫What if work is exerted at an angle? Figure 10-3 “…, the net force doing the work is the component (F x or F y ) that acts in the direction of the displacement.” If work is done at an angle, the formula will usually be Fdcos Θ (on p.260) I CAN: Discuss and analyze the relationship between work, power, and energy and apply this relationship to both simple and compound machines.
