The L ORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the L ORD F orever. (Psalm 23 NKJV)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the L ORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the L ORD upholds him with His hand. (Psalm 37 v 37-38 NKJV) The L ORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, For the L ORD holds them by the hand. (Psalm 37 v 37-38 NLT)

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. (2 Cor 1 v 8-9 NLT)

Throughout their lives, they live under a cloud—frustrated, discouraged, and angry. (Ecc 5 v 17 NLT)

I will catch up with him while he is weary and discouraged. He and his troops will panic, and everyone will run away. Then I will kill only the king… (2 Sam 17 v 2 NLT)

“Oh no, sir!” she replied. “I haven’t been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the L ORD. Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.” (1 Sam 1 v 15 NLT)

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— My Saviour and my God! (Psalm 42 v 11 NLT)

Then Hezekiah encouraged them by saying: “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side!” (2 Chron 32 v 7 NLT)

They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination. (Neh 6 v 9 NLT)
