2
CACI Proprietary Information | Date 2 2 Installing Sybase ASE 15.0.3 on Windows Server 2003 Installing Sybase ASE for Windows Server is relatively simple. It employs a Graphical User Interface (GUI) setup program, which makes the installation easy to understand, and automates most functions. The setup program installs Sybase ASE software and utilities. After the upgrade there will be a need to customize the setup to a configuration specific to PD². Once these steps have been completed, the database is ready to be upgraded to PD2 v4.2 Increment 2 SR13.

CACI Proprietary Information | Date 76 Installing Sybase ASE 15.0.3 on Windows Server 2003 8. Additional Information 8.2 Update Statistics −The Sybase ASE 15.0.3 ESD#4 query optimizer uses the statistics to determine the best query plan. −Outdated statistics could result in suboptimal performance in the database server. −To optimize query performance in Sybase ASE 15.0.3 ESD#4, updating statistics is strongly recommended. −The update statistics command is executed per table. The syntax is: update index statistics on go −where is a PD² table. All audit tables (table names begin with “z” or end with “_audit”) can be excluded, except tables: −clin_fund_audit −dsk_obj_audit −line_item_audit −delivery_item_audit (If Adapter is installed)
77
CACI Proprietary Information | Date 77 Installing Sybase ASE 15.0.3 on Windows Server 2003 8. Additional Information 8.2 Update Statistics −The statistics should be updated during the non-business hours to reduce the impact to the system users. −Sites with large databases should plan on breaking the updates into batches. −Large tables with many indexes may take hours to complete the statistics updates.
