Biography Diana Frances Spencer was born on 1 July, 1961 in the estate of the Spencers in Norfolk. Diana's parents were from aristocratic families: her father's name was Viscount Althrop and her mother's name was Frances Roche. The ancestors of her father Earl Spencer were relatives of a royal dynasty. The mother had a noble title too. When Diana was six, her mother left the family and in 1969 the marriage of her parents was officially dissolved.

Diana was sent to a private school. She dreamt of being a ballerina, but, then, as she told herself, she had to give up this idea because it appeared that she was too tall for that.

Diana studied at common schools — first in Norfolk, then in Kent. When she was 16 she left for Switzerland and finished school there. After her returning, she lived with her friends in London, earning her living as a cook or a nanny, and then she found a job of a teacher in a kindergarten. At the age of 16 Diana met the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles.

«Queen of Hearts» In February 1981, Buckingham Palace media officially announces the engagement of Prince of Wales and Countess Diana Frances Spencer. The wedding was held at St. Peter’s in London, July 29, 1981.

By the early 1990s, relations between the spouses turned to worse because of the ongoing relationship between Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. For a while Diana was in a relationship with Farrier James Hewitt. In December, 1992 the Prime Minister John Major announced to the Parliament, that Diana and Charles were going to divorce. The official divorce was in August, 1996. In June 1997, Diana began dating with a film producer, the son of Egyptian billionaire, Dodi al-Fayed.

«Wide soul» Starting in the mid-to-late 1980s, the Princess of Wales became well known for her support of charity projects, and was credited with considerable influence for her campaigns against the use of landmines and helping the victims of AIDS. In April 1987, the Princess of Wales was the first high-profile celebrity to be photographed with a person infected with the HIV virus.

Princess Diana also made clandestine visits to show kindness to AIDS patients. According to nurses, she would turn up unannounced, for example, at the Mildmay Hospice in London, with specific instructions that these visits were to be concealed from the media.

Visit to Russia 15-16 June 1995 Princess Diana paid a brief visit to Moscow. She attended Tushinskaya children's hospital, which had provided charitable assistance before (Princess gave hospital medical equipment), and the primary school number 751, which inaugurated the branch Relief Fund children with disabilities "Waverly House."

The death of Princess On 31 August 1997, Diana was fatally injured in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, which also caused the deaths of her companion Dodi Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul, acting security manager of the Hotel Ritz in Paris. Princess Diana was buried on September 6 in the Spencer family estate Althrop in Northamptonshire, on a secluded island.

Memory Many books were written about Diana in various languages. There are several documentaries and even feature films. Elton John, the group Depeche Mode, The Russian group Aquarium wrote songs about her. Diana, Princess of Wales on a Stamp of Armenia. And there is even a postage stamp with her image.

Princess Diana - the most popular woman of her time. Diana devoted a lot of her time to charity. People loved her because she really cared about them, and not because she was a public person or a part of the royal family. She was not indifferent to the fate of each person, not just the people of the state. She was a very bright person. It is a pity that her life ended so soon. She could do a lot.
