10. What is Ascent? Concurrent Enrollment Students remain enrolled in high school for a 5 th year, and take all coursework at FRCC Tuition for college classes is paid by the school district Student are responsible for paying for fees and textbooks

11. Who Can Participate in Ascent? Students must have completed high school graduation requirements by the end of their senior year Students must have completed 12 college credits by the end of their senior year The 12 college credits must be from an accredited program, such as Concurrent Enrollment classes through FRCC, CU Succeed, CU Gold, or CSU Ready. We do not accept AP or IB classes Students must meet minimum requirements on either the ACT or Accuplacer

12. If I do ASCENT will I get to walk at Graduation? Students will still fully participate in the graduation ceremony with their high school class. Instead of their diploma, they will receive a certificate stating that they are an ASCENT Candidate for that year. This certificate will fit into the diploma sleeve and look official. At the completion of the ASCENT year, they will receive their official high school diploma, listing their graduation year as the same year that they complete ASCENT.

13. What Classes Can I Take? Students will meet with a FRCC Advisor and are expected to enroll in classes that fit with their ICAPs or educational plans on record Students may enroll in Guarantee Transfer (GT) courses (see a FRCC Advisor for a list of approved courses) and/or Career &Technical Education (CTE) courses that apply to a specific career pathway as indicated in the student’s Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP). The courses must apply toward a college degree or certificate. Ascent covers tuition for college-level classes only; tuition for preparatory classes is not covered The school district gives final approval of your coursework
